Chihuly Garden and Glass | Community

in the Community

Committed to embracing the vibrancy of the arts in our community, Chihuly Garden and Glass supports opportunities for education and involvement in the arts through community partnerships. From the beginning, Chihuly Garden and Glass has actively supported the art development and the artists’ community in the Pacific Northwest. Through a selection of community partnerships, offering more than ten thousand tickets a year and starting Refract, the nation's premier glass art festival, along with collaborating with City of Seattle to add art to the Seattle Center campus, Chihuly Garden and Glass continues to make a positive impact across the globe.

Mission

Through the work of artist Dale Chihuly, we celebrate our region’s creative energy and inspire visitors to engage with our region’s cultural community.

Community Partners

To further arts engagement for all within the Seattle and the Pacific Northwest, Chihuly Garden and Glass has partnered in significant ways with a handful of local organizations including SOLA and Seattle Public Schools.

SOLA

SOLA stands for Support of Old Lady Artists and was founded in 2016 to honor accomplished, yet under-recognized, mature women visual artists. SOLA founder and artist, Ginny Ruffner, established a small, but mighty team of experienced women professionals in the arts to explore and shape SOLA’s growth.

Seattle Public Schools

Seattle Public Schools is the largest K-12 school system in Washington State, serving more than 47,000 students in 91 schools. Chihuly Garden and Glass has supplied over 17,000 tickets to the exhibition for young students since the program started and continues to offer filed trip opportunities for learning about the science of matter during the months of February and March each year.
“I teach kids they can use any color, any size paper, work any way they want to. There are no boundaries, there are no rules.”
—Dale Chihuly
